ProRes and DNx Recording:

- Recording video output of the camera HDMI 2.0 and SDI 12G, 6G, and 3G. 4kDCI (4096x2160) at 59.94, 50, 29.97, 25, 24, 23.98 | 4kUHD (3840x2160) at 59.94, 50, 29.97, 25, 23.98 | HD (1920x1080) 59.94, 50, 24, 23.98 | HD interlaced (1920x1080) at 50i, 59.94i
- NOTE: 4k Video modes are not available when using Imager Scan mode S35.

AtomOS Monitoring Settings:

- Native – Linear to Slog3 or use with 3D LUTs – can use any existing Slog3 LOOK LUTs.
- Rec709 – to view RAW input in SDR up to 6.7 stops of dynamic range.
- HLG – to view RAW in HLG with up 10.5 stops of dynamic range.
- PQ – to view RAW in PQ/HDR10 with up to 10.5 stops of dynamic range, for scenes with extended spectral highlights.

Important notes:

- With the installation of this new update ALL users will be required to activate ProRes RAW, as a codec (as they would have done for DNx activation).
- Following the Firmware update, if in ProRes RAW mode the Shogun 7 will default back to ProRes HQ. When a RAW source is plugged in, or a user selects ProRes Raw Codec, a UI popup will ask for activation code to continue.
- Even if the user has already been shooting with ProRes RAW, they must activate it in this update by visiting Atomos website atomos.com/activation and follow the online instructions to generate a code.

Firmware Update Tutorial:

- Download and unzip the file.
- Copy the file onto a recommended, formatted driver, using the docking station included with your recorder.
- Insert the drive into the Atomos recorder while it’s off.
- Power up the Atomos recorder.
- The screen will show flashing lines of color. This is normal - DO NOT power off!
- Updating will take a few minutes.
- Once completed, the Atomos recorder will power down.
- Power up the Atomos recorder again.
- Check Menu > Product Info > AtomOS Version. This should match the version you have just downloaded.
- Enjoy your updated Atomos recorder !

Firmware Recovery Tutorial:

- Power down the Atomos recorder (Hold power button for 4 seconds).
- Hold down the power button for 10 seconds approximately.
- You will see the “Firmware Update Failed” screen.
- Insert your HDD / SSD.
- The install process will begin and the screen will show flashing lines of color. This is normal - DO NOT power off !
- Once completed, the Atomos recorder will power down.
- Enjoy your updated Atomos recorder !

About Video Recorder Adapter Updates:

Applying a new firmware package on your Video Recorder adapter should improve overall performance and stability, fix various issues encountered with the device, or add support for newly developed features.

The Video Recorder adapter should be carefully upgraded by a power user (that is to say, someone who has the know-how to successfully complete the process), but it can also be performed by an average user at his or her own risk.

Either way, given the fact that each producer has their own method for installing a new firmware, and that every device has a particular way to enter the update mode, you must not consider upgrading the adapter's software until you have read and thoroughly understood the installation steps.

As a rule, said steps shouldn't pose too much of a challenge because manufacturers strive to make them as easy as possible. As with everything else, exceptions do occur, and users should be prepared for them.

Usually, you should transfer the compatible firmware to the Recorder through a USB cable or a memory card, and afterwards enter update mode from the unit's setup menu or through a specific power-on method.

With this in mind, if you intend to apply this release, make sure the package is compatible with your Video Recorder and that it brings about the changes you want or require; hit the download button and apply the new firmware.
